connecticut college faculty house

Fall 2019
This project represents growth during my first architecture design studio as an undergraduate, and is the first fleshed out architectural design project I have completed. At the beginning of this semester, I was introduced to hand drafting and model making. As the design process continued, I improved my modeling and drafting skills. The final design was represented with a wooden model and 5 hand drawings, and represents a lot of personal growth in the design process.

The proposed faculty house on the Connecticut College campus is perched along an old stone wall and traverses the tree line along the large green to the east. This house is anchored by two glass prisms that are connected by private living quarters. Glass panels take advantage of views of the green and the College’s arboretum to the west. Brise soleil are strategically placed to add privacy and reduce sun exposure.
