dormer garden
Spring 2021
I designed this planter for my bedroom window in the spring of 2021 after learning about the gardens that are often integrated into architecture in Singapore. I loved this idea, and realized my own dormer, with its large ledge, was the perfect spot to add some nature to the house. I designed a two tier planter with a bird bath cantilevered over the lower tier. I used four different species for a variety of color. In addition, the front row of plants feature cascading plants making the planter more appealing from the street. Two copper pipes were added for drainage.
Throughout the summer as I worked at my bedroom desk, many birds, specifically robins, visited the bath on a daily basis. Looking out the window and seeing flowers and birds is a much better view than the street and cars.
